UP SPELL
Gameplay Tips
Up Spell is a simple game.
- You get seven letters.
- Tap or drag letters to the word tray to spell words.
- When the word tray lights up, you've spelled a word.
- Tap the lit-up word tray to score points and get some more letters.
- When the word tray is empty, tap the trash button to dump your letters and get new ones.
- When the word tray isn’t empty, tap the down arrow button to clear the word tray.
- Score as many points as you can in two minutes.
- Unless you are extraordinarily quick, repeatedly typing two and three letters won’t produce the highest scores.
- Bonuses are awarded for longer words: 5 points for five-letter words, 12 points for six-letter words, and 21 points for seven-letter words.
- Don’t agonize too long trying to find the best possible word for a given set of letters. Many decent words will score better than a few excellent ones.
- The 2x tiles are a key to getting top scores. The game gives you one every time you use 25 letter tiles. These tiles multiply your word score by two. Since this includes word length bonuses, a seven-letter word that includes a 2x tile scores a minimum of 42 points.
- Learn the short words, especially the two-letter words. Typing one of these short words is much quicker than tapping the trash can and dumping your letter tray, since dumping assesses a time penalty.
